Funnel Cake Fries

Instructions

  1. Mix Dry Ingredients
In a bowl, whisk together gluten-free flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.

  2. Mix Wet Ingredients
In another bowl, whisk milk, eggs, and vanilla until frothy.

  3. Combine into Batter
Pour wet ingredients into the dry and stir until a smooth, pourable batter forms.

  4. Prepare to Fry
Heat about 1 inch of neutral oil in a large skillet to 375 °F. Transfer batter to a piping bag or a plastic bag with the corner snipped (¼–½ inch opening).

  5. Fry the Fries
Pipe 4-inch lines of batter into the hot oil. Fry in batches (4–5 at a time) for about 2 minutes, flip, and cook 1 more minute until golden and crisp.

  6. Drain & Dust
Transfer to a wire rack or paper towels, then immediately dust with powdered sugar.

Tips & Notes

  • Use a good 1:1 gluten-free flour blend for best results.

  • For dairy-free, use your favorite plant milk.

  • Don’t overcrowd the pan — it helps maintain oil temperature.

  • A smaller piping opening gives thinner “fries,” while a larger one gives thicker sticks.
